Size Charts For Boston Terriers
There are size charts available for Boston terriers on the internet and these can be used to measure your dog. These charts will show you a list of sizes based on weight ranges, with each size being given in pounds or kilograms as well as inches or centimeters.
You'll also need to know the length from the top of their head to the base of their tail - which is called "the back". From this measurement you can find out whether they are long-backed or short backed.
Extra small: 3 to 7 pounds
Small: 7 to 15 pounds
Medium: 15 to 25 pounds
Large: 25 to 35 pounds
Extra large: 35+ pounds
This can be a helpful guide as Boston terriers can vary in size.
How to measure your Boston Terrier?
The length from the top of their head to the base of their tail - which is called "the back". From this measurement you can find out whether they are long-backed or short backed.
Head Circumference (Jawline) - How much space around your dog's head, measured from one ear to another and over the top of his head where it meets with his neck. This will tell you how big something needs to be when covering all but a small section on each side for vision purposes. With these measurements you also need to know if he has a normal sized muzzle (lengthwise), large muzzle, or tiny muzzle so that there is enough room.
Muzzle Circumference (Jaw) - How much space around the neck and head of your Boston terrier, measured from one side of their jaw to another. This will tell you how big something needs to be when covering all but a small section on each side for vision purposes. With these measurements you also need to know if he has a normal sized muzzle (lengthwise), large muzzle, or tiny muzzle so that there is enough room.
Ear-to-ear circumference - The length across the face just below his eyes, over his nose and under it where it meets with his chin. You want this measurement in inches because we are going to use clothing patterns designed specifically for dogs which are based off of human sizes such as small, medium and large.
Nose to Chest - The length of his nose from the tip in inches up until it meets with where the chest starts to curve inward on a dog's body. This measurement is going to be used so that you can estimate how wide or narrow your Boston terrier needs clothes made for him based off of human sizes such as X-small, Small and Medium (when referring back to clothing patterns designed specifically for dogs).
Neck Circumference - How much space around their neck measured at the widest point just behind their head which would be right beneath their chin area when they are sitting down comfortably. You want this measurement in inches because we are going to use clothing patterns designed specifically for dogs which are based on human sizes.
Chest Circumference - How much space around their chest area measured at the widest point, which would be right in front of his stomach when they are sitting down comfortably. You want this measurement in inches because we are going to use clothing patterns designed specifically for dogs which are based on human sizes.
Length from Neck Downwards - Measure how long it takes from where your dog's neck starts just beneath his chin until it reaches wherever you think is a good spot that will not have him scrunching up an uncomfortable amount, or just take measurements and compare them with other Boston terrier sized clothes if possible if you cannot measure yourself. Lengths like 22-25" (X-Small) and 25"-27"(Small) would be a good size to use as your starting point for measurements.
Length from Shoulder Downwards - Measure how long it takes from where the top of his shoulders are until it reaches wherever you think is a good spot that will not have him scrunching up an uncomfortable amount, or just take measurements and compare them with other Boston terrier sized clothes if possible if you cannot measure yourself. Lengths like 27-29" (Small), 29"-31"(Medium) 34-36" (Large), 38-40" (X Large) would be a good size to use as your starting point for measurements.
