French Bulldog’s like to keep a routine and will usually do the same things at the same time each day. For example, first thing when they wake up they may like to head straight to the pee or after eating dinner they may like to go to the potty.

There are several factors that may add to the number of times your Frenchie will need to go to the toilet. Simple things such as your Frenchie drinking extra water after taking a walk or during a hot day will, of course, mean he has to go to the toilet more than usual. By monitoring your dog’s behavior, you will be able to determine what is normal to them and what is excessive. A typical French bulldog only needs to urinate once every four to six hours, although sometimes will go eight to ten hours without needing to pee.

Puppies need to pee more!

Age does affect how often your French Bulldog needs to pee. Frenchie puppies will need to go out more often than fully grown French Bulldogs. This will be around about once every two hours, but you should be extra cautious and take them out once every hour as well as everytime your French Bulldog wakes up for naps, has a play session and within five to ten minutes from drinking or eating if you want to avoid accidents

Dogs On Medication

French Bulldogs that are taking medication may be more prone to pee more often than usual. Medications such as heart pills may make them more likely to have accidents, so it is a good idea to take extra precautions.

When may it be an issue?

Excessive peeing in French Bulldogs may be an indication of health issues such as a bladder problem, bladder infection, kidney disease, bladder disease, liver disease or even diabetes. If you do start to notice your French Bulldog asking to go pee more often, pay close attention to the volume of pee, the smell, the color of the urine and even if they have any discomfort. A change in any of these symptoms could be a sign that your Frenchie needs to go see a vet. A lot of French Bulldogs who exhibit these behaviors and turn up at the vet often have urinary tract infections and may have been dealing with it for months.

If your French Bulldog does start to exhibit excessive peeing, please take them to the vet sooner rather then later. It’s always better to be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to your adorable and loving Frenchie!
